What Are The Drone Flying Rules In India?

The following are the rules for flying drones in India:

  • A drone flying license in India issued by DGCA is required for commercial drone operations except for nano-category drones flown below 50 ft and those in the micro category flown below 200 ft.
  • Without drone flying permission from DGCA, you cannot fly drones other than those in the nano and micro categories.
  • All drones must be registered and issued a Unique Identification Number (UIN), except nano-category drones.
  • A direct visual line of sight must be maintained by the drone pilots at all times while flying.
  • Drones are not allowed to be flown more than 400 ft vertically.
  • According to the Drone (Amendment) Rules 2023, if the drone license applicant does not have a passport, identity proof, and address proof (Voter ID, Driving License, or Ration Card) issued by a Government, they can now be accepted to apply for a Remote Pilot Certificate.

Stalking is a serious offense in India and is punishable by imprisonment of up to 3 years for the first offense and an extension of 5 years for subsequent violations.
