Tesla CEO Musk congratulates Modi for NDA’s Victory

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk took to social media platform X to congratulate PM-designate Shri. Narendra Modi for victory in the Lok Sabha elections 2024.

Musk, who extended his well wishes to Shri. Modi, talked about the future of his companies in India. 

Elon Musk’s tweet came three days after the election results were announced. He tweeted, “Congratulations @narendramodi on your victory in the world’s largest democratic elections! Looking forward to my companies doing exciting work in India.”

PM-designate Shri. Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the single largest political party in India and bagged 240 out of the total 543 Lok Sabha seats on 4th June, 2024.

Elon Musk is anticipated to put up his first Indian Tesla plant in Gujarat, Tamil Nadu or Maharashtra. 

The potential $3 billion investment by Tesla comes at a time when, earlier this year, India reduced its import taxes on certain EVs produced by carmakers that commit to invest at least $500 million in India.

Elon Musk had plans to visit India in April, 2024, but his trip got canceled due to heavy obligations from Tesla. He expressed his plans to visit India later this year.

Days before his trip to India, Elon Musk wrote on X, “Unfortunately, very heavy Tesla obligations require that the visit to India be delayed, but I do very much look forward to visiting later this year.”

Apart from Musk, many businessmen and leaders around the world congratulated PM-designate Narendra Modi on his victory in the elections including US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Russian President Vladimir Putin and the French President Emmanuel Macron.
