Best Agriculture State Award 2024 won by Maharashtra

Judge P Sathasivam presented Best Agriculture State Award to Maharashtra in recognition of the state’s significant advancements in innovative farming practices and the development of rural areas. According to the findings of the 15th Agriculture Leadership Awards Committee, Maharashtra is the top state for farming in the present year. 

Eknath Shinde, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, will receive this esteemed honor at a ceremony in New Delhi on July 10, 2024. This award recognizes the contributions made in this field by both individuals and the government, based on practical strategies that support sustainable agricultural growth and food security. 

Maharashtra, the largest state in India, accounts for 12.92 percent of the nation’s GDP. It has a greater per capita income than the national average. The state’s GSV is largely composed of agriculture and allied industries, accounting for around 12.1%.

Maharashtra is starting a number of innovative agricultural initiatives such as the nation’s largest bamboo project which has the potential to transform 21 lakh hectares of land. The district of Nandurbar is developing a 1.20 lakh-acre green belt in collaboration with the Central and state governments. 

The Agricultural Leadership Award’s History

In 2008, Agricultural Today magazine established the Agricultural Leadership Award to recognize the leading figures and states in the agricultural industry. Former Chief Ministers Prakash Singh Badal and Shivraj Singh Chouhan, as well as Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, are among the well-known individuals who have previously received this honor. This demonstrates the significance of this award.
