Set of Commemorative Postage Stamps on Paris Olympics

To commemorate the XXXIII Paris Olympics, a set of commemorative postage stamps was unveiled on 5th August by Union Ministers of Youth Affairs & Sports, Labour & Employment, and Communications & Development of the North Eastern Region, Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia, and Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya. 

Renowned athletes and dignitaries attended the ceremony, which took place at Rang Bhawan, All India Radio, New Delhi. It was a momentous occasion in India’s support for the Olympic Games.

The participation of well-known athletes, such as bronze medallist Sarabjot Singh, who won the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, added even more glamor to the occasion. Former cricketer Aakash Chopra and steeplechase competitor Sudha Singh were among the other famous guests.

The commemorative stamp was formally unveiled by Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, who expressed their delight in India’s Olympic heritage and the contribution of sports to world harmony. The ministers and athletes discussed the value of sports in promoting friendship and collaboration between nations, highlighting the Olympics as a stage for displaying skill and commitment. 

Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia said, “The new stamp honoring the Olympics 2024 celebrates our sports heroes who have made India proud on the global stage. This tribute will inspire young talents and strengthen our nation’s sports ecosystem. I congratulate our Department of Posts, which through several initiatives has always promoted sports culture and with the launch of this stamp has added to its legacy of celebrating the achievements of India through philately. I also extend my best wishes to the Indian contingent in the Paris Olympics 2024.”

Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, while addressing the gathering, said, “Sports is not just competition; it is a way of living. The release of postage stamps reflects India’s commitment to sports, serving as a symbol of national pride and encouragement for athletes.” Dr. Mandaviya went on to say that sports improve individual fitness and the well-being of the country as a whole, promote a healthy society, and are vital for wealth and development.
