Have you ever transferred money by mistake—maybe to the wrong UPI ID or an incorrect phone number? Or perhaps your payment is stuck in “pending” status, leaving you worried and unsure of what to do next? You’re not alone!

These mistakes happen more often than you’d think. A simple typo or an accidental click can send your hard-earned money to someone you didn’t intend. But don’t worry—there are ways to fix it.

In this blog, we’ll walk you through the steps to reverse a wrong transaction or retrieve your stuck payment. Follow along, and you’ll know exactly what to do if this ever happens to you!

What to do for Phonepe Wrong Transaction Refund?

If you’ve accidentally sent money to the wrong account, don’t panic—there are steps you can take to get it back.

Start by contacting your bank immediately and requesting a chargeback for the incorrect transaction. Be sure to provide the Unique Transaction Reference (UTR) number to help track the payment.

If the recipient’s account is with the same bank, your bank can directly reach out to them and request a reversal on your behalf. However, if the recipient’s account is with a different bank, your bank can only act as a mediator. In this case, they may provide you with the branch details, and you’ll need to visit the bank and speak to the manager for further assistance.

Keep in mind that the money can only be refunded if the recipient agrees. If they approve the reversal, the amount should be credited back to your account within seven days.

But what if the recipient refuses to respond or the bank is unable to retrieve the funds? In such cases, you can escalate the issue by filing a complaint with the NPCI (National Payments Corporation of India) for further action.
