DGCA to issue Electronic Licenses

DGCA to issue Electronic Licenses

Aviation industry regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is getting ready to issue licenses to Air Traffic Controllers (ATCOs) in electronic form as part of its plan to go paperless and embrace the digital age.

With the new electronic licenses, ATCOs will be able to easily access and manage their licenses on devices like phones or tablets, making things much more efficient, according to an official statement from the DGCA. This change isn’t just a small update, but a big shift in how air traffic is managed.

“In a transformative initiative, the DGCA is set to introduce the paperless Personnel License for Air Traffic Controllers (ATCOs). This innovative move signifies a pivotal shift in the management of personnel licenses, ushering in an era of enhanced efficiency and modernisation within the Indian aviation landscape,” according to the statement of DCGA.

The DGCA explained that switching from paper licenses to digital ones will make it much easier for ATCOs to manage their licenses.

The licenses will be stored securely and can be accessed anytime through smartphones and tablets, allowing real-time updates and instant access to information.

The DGCA said this new plan highlights its goal of using technology to improve India’s aviation system, making it more competitive globally. The digital licenses also support the DGCA’s efforts to be more environmentally friendly, as printing licenses will no longer be necessary.
