Delhi Government To Introduce New Law For Coaching Centres
Following the tragic flooding that claimed the lives of three UPSC candidates, the Delhi government is planning to introduce a new legislation governing coaching centers in the nation’s capital, according to AAP minister Atishi.
“Delhi government will constitute a committee comprising officials, students to formulate regulations for coaching centres,” she stated.
According to Atishi, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has taken legal action against tutoring centers that use basements as a place of business.
“Basements of 30 coaching centres in Rajinder Nagar, Mukherjee Nagar, Laxmi Nagar, and Preet Vihar have been sealed while notices have been issued to 200 other coaching centres,” she stated.
Atishi said if any officers are proven to have been involved in the incident, they will face strict consequences. The Old Rajinder Nagar catastrophe was caused by illegal building use.
Massive protests were sparked last week after three UPSC candidates perished after becoming trapped in the basement of a well-known coaching center in Delhi.
The victims have been named as 28-year-old Navin Delvin, 25-year-old Shreya Yadav, and Tania Soni. Navin lived in Kerala, Tania was from Telangana, and Shreya was from Uttar Pradesh.
According to officials, there was flooding in the basement of Rau’s IAS Study Circle in Old Rajinder Nagar as a result of a sewer explosion.
Hundreds of locals and students have been demonstrating, calling for action against the coaching center and authorities for their alleged incompetence, which resulted in the deaths of three students.
